The Joy of Living Conference is powered entirely by volunteers. Whether you have years of sobriety or simply a willingness to help, there is a place for you. Join a committee and help us carry the message while deepening your own recovery. We have lots of open positions below.

Committee Chair/ co-chair
Conduct meetings, agendas, minutes and ensure chair and co-chairs of the committee have support they need.

Speaker/ Workshop/ co-chair
Review speaker tapes, get speakers for each year’s conference, make connections between the speakers and facilities/JOL chair
Facility & Event Liaison
Book Facilities and arrange rooms for speakers. Contacts speakers via welcome letter and info about flights and conference schedule
Lindsey
Registration/ co-chair
Registrant Correspondence, Print Name Badges with Conference Schedules, Meet and Greet our guests, take money and see that it is delivered to the treasurer. Set-up and take down of reg tables. Making sure everyone registered gets a mug and has all information needed for the conference
Outreach/ co-chair
Brings flyers to meetings and announces the conference at different meetings

Organizes and plans a pre-registration event in May/June
Gift Bags for the Speakers
Order and arrange welcome bags for speakers with cool and fun gifts.

Ice Cream Social/ co-chair
Order ice cream / supplies / toppings / set – up and organize Friday Ice Cream Social

Maintains website, adds speaker names/weekend detail, email blasts, adds/adjusts the registration link

Special Ops/ co-chair
The go to people! Special Ops does it all! This is a great position to be involved with the entire group.
Scholarships
Issue and track scholarships. “We want scholarship recipients to attend the whole weekend and help with the conference in various ways.”
Marathon Meetings / Co-chair
Organize meeting room, meeting times, fill chairperson spots for marathon meetings and remind all chairs their date/time/topic the week prior to the event. Give the chair and facilities copies of the marathon meeting lists.
Bookmarks/ Dinner/ Podium Book
Book dinner reservations for Friday and Saturday Night committee dinners, edit and print bookmarks for chair seats, update JOL Podium Book
Coffee Cups
Order Mugs, find source for mugs
Hospitality/ co-chair
Organize snacks for the hospitality suite for the weekend as well as people to maintain the suite, refill snacks etc.
Greeters/ Slacker committee
Ensure everyone is wearing their badges and help with other areas of the conference as needed
Treatment Center Liaison
Be available to the people who work at the treatment center for questions. You could drop off or provide a flyer if you want. Scholarships are available, but they get the same treatment as other scholarship recipients and we want them to attend the whole weekend. There is no group rate. They are treated like all other attendees regarding payment.
Central Office
Shares event information with CO and arranges for them to have a table at the conference and a place to stay
